A large number of freshers today want to build a career in aviation. However, many candidates drop out or hesitate because they do not fully understand the hiring process — especially when terms like training fee and security deposit are introduced.
This guide provides complete clarity and transparency on how airport ground staff hiring works in India, particularly under the Recruit, Train & Deploy (RTD) model. If you are planning to attend an interview, it is strongly recommended that you read this guide fully before making a decision.
About Aviation Indeed
Aviation Indeed is a recruitment and training partner working with aviation companies across India. With 20,000+ candidates supported and 200+ aviation clients, we specialise in fresher hiring and job-linked programs. Our objective is to ensure candidates have clear information, structured processes, and genuine opportunities.
Understanding the Aviation Industry Hiring Reality
Unlike many industries, freshers cannot directly start working at airports. Before joining, candidates must complete mandatory certifications that include safety and emergency procedures, first aid and medical response, dangerous goods regulations, aviation security, and airport operations and customer handling. These are mandatory regulatory requirements, not optional training.
Hiring Models in Aviation
Understanding these models will help you differentiate between genuine and misleading opportunities.
1. Direct Hiring Model (Client-Led)
In this model, the client — an airline or ground handling company — conducts interviews directly, issues the Letter of Intent (LOI), and collects any training fee or security deposit through their own channels. Training and onboarding are managed entirely by the client.
Aviation Indeed's role in this model is limited to recruitment: sourcing candidates, screening and shortlisting, and coordinating interviews. We do not manage training or fee collection under this model.
2. Recruit, Train & Deploy (RTD Model)
This is the model currently followed in many fresher hiring programs. In this case, the client ground handling company authorises Aviation Indeed to act as a representative partner. Our responsibilities include screening and interviewing candidates, conducting pre-deployment training, managing documentation and onboarding, and supporting candidates until their first day at work. This ensures a guided and structured experience for freshers entering the industry.
The RTD process follows a clear flow: Selection → LOI → Training → Documentation → Deployment.
Step-by-Step Hiring Process
Step 1: Application and Screening
Candidates apply through official channels. Eligibility is checked, and shortlisted candidates receive interview invitations.
Step 2: Walk-in Interview
This includes registration and document verification, grooming and preparation guidance, internal screening, and a final interview with the client. Selected candidates receive an official LOI.
Step 3: Post-Selection Briefing
Candidates are clearly informed about their role and responsibilities, salary structure, training process, fee structure, and documentation requirements — all before proceeding further.
Step 4: Pre-Deployment Training
Training runs for 8 to 10 days at 8 hours daily and covers safety and emergency training, airport operations, grooming and customer handling, and practical exposure.
Training Fee and Security Deposit Explained
Training Fee
The training fee covers the cost of certified trainers, infrastructure, training materials, and certifications. Current fee structures are as follows:
- Passenger Service roles: ₹40,000 + GST
- Utility / Ramp roles: ₹15,000
Security Deposit
The security deposit is a refundable amount linked to your tenure commitment with the employer. Current deposit amounts are:
- Passenger Service Agent (PSA) roles: ₹35,000
- Utility roles: ₹15,000
Payment Structure
The training fee is paid in stages. The security deposit is required during onboarding. Candidates are given 20 to 30 days to arrange funds after selection.
Refund Policy
The training fee is refundable as per agreement terms. The security deposit is refundable after successful completion of the agreed tenure. Candidates must read their offer letter and training agreement carefully to understand exactly what is refundable and under what conditions.
Why This Model Exists
Aviation training requires certified trainers, specialised infrastructure, simulation facilities, and compliance with strict regulatory standards. Additionally, companies require genuine commitment from candidates who have invested time and resources in the program. This model ensures that candidates are trained, compliant, and operationally ready before they step into an airport environment.
How to Identify Genuine vs Fake Opportunities
Legitimate aviation hiring programs follow a transparent and documented process. A genuine opportunity will always involve an interview before any payment is requested, an official LOI, written documentation with clear fee breakdowns, and payments made through official company bank accounts with proper receipts.
Red flags to watch out for include being asked to pay before any interview takes place, receiving no offer letter or written documentation, being asked to pay into a personal UPI ID or account, and being pressured to pay immediately without time to review documents.
Candidates should never pay for a job guarantee. If something feels wrong, verify directly with the company before proceeding.
Salary and Career Growth
Airport ground staff roles in India typically offer a starting salary between ₹20,000 and ₹27,000 per month, along with PF, ESIC or medical benefits, performance incentives, and structured career progression opportunities within the aviation industry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a direct job or a training program? This is a job-linked hiring process. Training is a mandatory part of onboarding before deployment and is not a standalone course.
When do I have to pay? Only after selection and receipt of your LOI, with complete written documentation in place.
Can I pay through an agent? No. Payments must always be made through official company channels only.
What if someone asks for money before the interview? Do not pay. This is a fraudulent request. Report it immediately.
Is the security deposit refundable? Yes, after completion of the required service tenure as stated in your agreement.
What happens after training? Candidates complete documentation, medical checks, and onboarding formalities before being deployed at their assigned airport location.
Can I reapply if I have already given an interview? Candidates who have appeared recently within a defined cooling period may not be eligible. Check with the Aviation Indeed team before reapplying.
Final Thoughts
The aviation industry offers strong long-term career opportunities, but only for candidates who understand the process clearly. Most confusion comes from a lack of information, not from the process itself. By verifying documents, understanding the fee structure, and choosing trusted organisations, aspiring aviation professionals can take their first steps into the industry with confidence.
Aviation Indeed ensures a structured recruitment process, transparent communication, end-to-end training and onboarding support under the RTD model, and complete candidate guidance from application to airport joining. We do not sell jobs. All costs are part of a defined training and onboarding process aligned with employer requirements.
