Job Description Job Title: Principal Planning Engineer Location: India Department: Planning / Base Maintenance / MRO Operations Reporting To: Senior Management - Planning / Base Maintenance About the Role We are looking for a highly experienced and technically strong Principal Planning Engineer to support Base Maintenance operations through advanced check packaging, production planning, and execution-focused maintenance planning activities. The role is designed as a senior-level technical expert and individual contributor responsible for converting aircraft maintenance programs into executable, resource-optimized, and risk-mitigated base maintenance plans. The candidate will act as a technical authority for check packaging and production planning functions while ensuring adherence to Turnaround Time (TAT) commitments and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate should possess deep MRO and aircraft base maintenance experience with strong expertise in work package development, task sequencing, manpower estimation, and planning optimization. Key Responsibilities Work Package Planning & Sequencing • Convert approved aircraft maintenance programs into detailed day-wise executable work packages • Structure and sequence maintenance tasks based on aircraft ground-time constraints, access requirements, and operational dependencies • Integrate task interdependencies, manpower availability, tooling readiness, and material planning into executable check packages • Ensure planning outputs are technically sound and operationally executable with minimal revalidation Production Planning & Execution Support • Develop high-fidelity maintenance plans supporting Bay Operations and Base Maintenance execution • Monitor maintenance progress and support operational recovery planning for delays and bottlenecks • Validate manpower, skill mix, tooling, and material readiness before aircraft induction • Ensure planning outputs clearly define task sequence, duration, manpower, and execution timelines Technical Planning & Resource Optimization • Estimate accurate manhours and optimize manpower utilization for maintenance checks • Improve forecasting accuracy for future maintenance activities and resource allocation • Identify operational risks, planning gaps, and potential schedule conflicts • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy and operational efficiency Technical Leadership & Capability Building • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Check Packaging and Production Planning activities • Provide technical guidance to planning teams and support planning quality improvements • Support development of planning standards, processes, and best practices • Contribute towards improving planning maturity and reducing ad-hoc operational corrections Compliance & Operational Coordination • Coordinate with Engineering, Production, CAMO, Supply Chain, and Operations teams for smooth maintenance execution • Ensure compliance with approved maintenance programs, OEM requirements, and regulatory standards • Support TAT adherence and operational performance targets for base maintenance activities Eligibility Criteria • Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical / Mechanical / Aircraft Maintenance Engineering or related field • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience in Aircraft Base Maintenance / MRO Planning • Strong experience in: • Check Packaging & Work Package Development • Production Planning & Base Maintenance Operations • Maintenance Task Sequencing & Resource Planning • Manhour Estimation & Skill Allocation • TAT Management & Operational Planning • Experience in wide-body and/or narrow-body aircraft maintenance planning preferred Required Skills Technical Skills • Aircraft Maintenance Planning • Base Maintenance & Heavy Check Planning • Work Package Structuring & Sequencing • Manhour Estimation & Resource Optimization • Production Planning & Control • Maintenance Program Interpretation • ERP / MRO Systems (AMOS / RAMCO / Ultramain / SAP etc.) • Maintenance Forecasting & Planning Analytics Non-Technical Skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent coordination and stakeholder management abilities • Strong communication and technical reporting skills • High attention to detail and execution focus • Ability to work in TAT-critical operational environments Preferred Candidate Profile • Strong hands-on MRO and Base Maintenance experience • Technically intensive planning background with execution-focused mindset • Proven expertise in creating executable maintenance work packages • Experience working in airline or third-party MRO environments • Ability to independently manage complex planning activities under tight timelines • Strong understanding of operational risk mitigation and planning optimization Additional Information Remote Opportunities: No Job Status: Active Country: India Job Type: Full Time
