Job Title: HVAC Design Engineer (Commercial Energy Efficiency) Location: India (Remote) Department: Engineering & Project Development Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and technically strong HVAC Design Engineer to support commercial HVAC optimization and energy efficiency projects across Canada. The role involves working closely with engineering, sales, and project management teams to develop HVAC designs, perform equipment sizing, support project costing, prepare technical documentation, and assist with project implementation. This position is ideal for professionals looking to build expertise in Canadian HVAC standards and sustainable building solutions. Key Responsibilities HVAC Design & Engineering • Design HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings • Prepare HVAC layouts, equipment schedules, ductwork, piping concepts, and mechanical design documentation • Perform heating and cooling load calculations • Size HVAC equipment including RTUs, AHUs, heat pumps, chillers, boilers, ventilation, and exhaust systems • Review existing mechanical systems and identify retrofit opportunities • Prepare technical drawings and documentation for project execution • Support project managers and field teams during installation and commissioning Proposal & Project Support • Review project requirements and site information • Assist in preparing technical scopes of work and project quotations • Perform quantity take-offs, equipment sizing, and cost estimates • Support sales teams with technical recommendations and energy-efficient solutions • Identify project risks, assumptions, and cost drivers Energy Analysis & Compliance • Evaluate existing HVAC systems for energy efficiency improvements • Recommend retrofit solutions to reduce energy consumption and operating costs • Support utility incentive and rebate program applications • Ensure designs comply with Canadian building codes, ASHRAE standards, and applicable regulations • Coordinate technical documentation required for project approvals Continuous Learning & Collaboration • Learn and apply Canadian HVAC standards and industry best practices • Stay updated with advancements in HVAC technologies, heat pumps, VRF systems, BAS, and energy-efficient equipment • Participate in technical training and mentorship programs • Travel to Canada periodically for training, site visits, and project collaboration when required Qualifications & Experience • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field • 4-5 years of experience in HVAC design, mechanical building services, or MEP consulting • Experience preparing HVAC design drawings and technical documentation • Strong understanding of HVAC system design, psychrometrics, ventilation, refrigeration principles, and energy-efficient building systems • Experience performing heating and cooling load calculations • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software • Ability to work independently in a remote environment • Strong written and verbal English communication skills Key Skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent organizational and time management abilities • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and Canadian HVAC codes is an advantage • Experience with commercial HVAC retrofit projects and energy-efficient systems • Familiarity with HVAC design and energy modelling software such as Revit MEP, HAP, Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE 3D Plus, IES VE, EnergyPlus, or similar • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder coordination skills • Willingness to learn Canadian HVAC standards, utility programs, and energy efficiency requirements • Willingness to travel to Canada when required for project support and training Note: Aviation Indeed does not charge any recruitment fees.
